Although these pieces can be purchased individually, most are included as part of a home theater system. When the system is being set up, the cube speaker serves as the satellite piece and is placed in various locations around the room. The main speaker is usually positioned very near the television.
Placing the cube units is very easy because of their small size. They typically do not cause a conflict with the decorations of a room and they can be stacked together very easily. It is important when installing the system initially that great care is taken with the placement of the cubes. Small changes in where they are placed can make a big difference in the quality of the sound, especially if there are large, upholstered pieces of furniture in the room.

Now matter how high the quality of sound produced by a television can be, adding surround sound can improve it. Most directors intend for the sound to be able to move through a set of well placed speakers when they make movies, so the overall effect with be more realistic with a system. It can be an expensive addition to a home theater system, but it is well worth it.
The musical quality that can be achieved by these systems is often given a lower priority in advertising, but it is one of the most powerful benefits. Having high quality music drifting through a room at an appropriate volume can change the entire mood of a party almost instantly.
When considering purchasing Bose cube speakers as part of a system or as individual pieces to enhance an existing system, it is important to evaluate the needs of the concert area. It is often wise to consult a professional retailer prior to making a large purchase, because with high quality systems there are often fewer pieces needed to produce an excellent quality of sound. More is not necessarily better in all cases, and this is very true of too many speakers being placed in a small space. If too many pieces are present, the sound can become distorted and ruin the quality of the experience. Going to the store with the measurements of the room in hand will be very helpful.
